Dear all,

As an intern at a museum I am going to make an oral presentation for my mid-term report next week. I am considering using ''the kaleidoscopic role'' to illustrate the fact that museums today have taken charge of diverse affairs. Is ''the kaleidoscopic role'' pertinent to the meaning? Hope you guys kindly give me some thoughts:)

Thanks Dave.

I think I kind of misunderstood the meaning of the word

Then, could I ask whether "the kaleidoscopic role" is synonymous with "the shifting role"? Does "the kaleidoscopic role" have negative connotations?

Really look for your kind responses.

Cheers,

"multifaceted role" is a good word.
But still wonder if "kaleidoscopic role" has negative connotations.

I don't think "kaleidoscopic" is clear enough. "Multifaceted" seems to fit your intended meaning.

"Kaleidoscopic" doesn't usually have negative connotations. It can sometimes describe an effect of constantly changing patterns or colours etc that may be confusing but, even then, it could be suggesting that the effect is stimulating and enjoyable rather than unpleasant.
However, as Mike and I say, it doesn't seem suitable for the meaning you intend.
