    Question not-for-profit variety

    Hi,
What it means regarding the sentence below:

The main uses of these ideas have been in the evaluations of management efficiencies of decision making units of not-profit variety such as schools, hospitals ect.

and "variety" what does it mean?

    Thanks

    Re: not-for-profit variety

Do you know the difference between an enterprise that is run for profit and one that is a non-profit?

    Re: not-for-profit variety

The sentence is phrased slightly strangely IMO- is the writer a native speaker?

    Re: not-for-profit variety

The title mentions 'not-for-profit' and the sentence 'not-profit'; 'etc' is misspelt.

These may be the OP's typos.

The ideas were mainly used to evaluate the managers/leaders of not-for-profit entities/organizations/institutions, such as schools, hospitals, etc.

The phrase "management efficiencies" sounds like jargon to me and is not very clear. I would use another word for "variety".

They could, but this is still a weird way of phrasing things:
management efficiencies of decision making units of not-profit variety
