Are these sentences submitted below correct and natural:

a) I account him as my good friend.

b) He account this story as fake.
?
I am trying to use "account" in meaning of "consider".

They are correct, but not as natural as:
c) "I consider him to be a good friend."
d) "He considers this story to be fake."

That use is entirely unnatural in my dialect. I would never use "account" that way.

But you would use count, wouldn't you, please?

Some people say "I count him among my best friends", but it is not very common in AmE. "Count" would not work with B.

1. And can I say:
"I consider him my good friend."
without "to be"?

2. Can I use "regard as" in this meaning (instead of "account as")? Will it be natural?
a) I regard him as my friend.
b) He regards this story as fake.
