2. This had ‘ produced ‘ a completely different atmosphere, which I sensed the moment I entered the big hall. I won’t deny that it affected me, although I had been educated by a robot myself.
3. As I was making my first round, I tried to ‘ remember’ the moments when the robot had comforted me, when it had been at my bedside for days on end, without showing signs of boredom or tiredness. I knew I was being silly, but I couldn’t shake off the feeling that I was constantly being watched, that from now on mistakes and weakness would be fatal. After all, my colleagues had been replaced by robots.

After forty minutes I still hadn’t succeeded in reviving the patient. The moment I wanted to give up, the door was quietly opened and a robot entered the room. There was something familiar in the way the green eyes slowly turned from me to the patient…
6. Another twenty five minutes later he put down the instruments and I knew he had ‘succeed’ in the operation.
