    Dear teachers,

Can "somehow" mean "somewhat" ? I don't think so.

    Re: somehow

Why did you ask that question?
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.

    Re: somehow

Last night when I was talking with two of my vietnamese friends, suddenly I asked a question whether they ware sleepy. Because it was actually about 11 pm. One answered "not much but somehow". At the same time I told her that what you mean to say might be "somewhat" not "somehow". But both of them told me that it was correct. I said no. They also told me that it was a kind of slang. Well! As I am not much aware of slang I was neutral. And today I presented you the problem. Okay! Now it's clear that I was correct.

    Re: somehow

    Here's a tip, kite:

In future, give us the context in post #1 to save us having to ask for it.

I donít think that we can use the word sleepy in this context since in the underlined part the questioner wanted to make sure if they were asleep not drowsy, can we, please?

Sleepy is fine. The speaker knew they were not asleep, because he was talking to them.
