    Manual Work

I am looking for an adjective that I saw a while ago but momentarily forgot. It goes in front of the following:

    1. "_____ manual work"

The mystery adjective emphasizes that it is physical effort that is required, not mental effort. But it does not emphasize the magnitude of the physical effort, so adjectives like "hard" and "heavy" are not correct.
In the right context, the adjective could be dropped, so that this:

    2. "manual work"

would mean the same as 1. This adjective is maddingly simple.

"Unskilled" is not what I am looking for. The mysterious adjective has other meanings, but I don't remember those either.

    Menial? Basic?
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.

    Re: Manual Work

I would suggest looking it up in work | collocation / collocations examples, Usage and Definition.
Maybe there you will find the ajective you are looking for...
