    Question Surrender with/without object

    Hi,

I would like to ask somebody to help me understand the meaning of "surrender" in the following sentences.

Surrender your fears and concerns. (could this mean to give up, release, let go of?)

Surrender your fears and concerns to God/higher power etc.

Is there any difference in using "surrender" in these sentences? It seems to me that the meaning should be the same and that only in the first sentence the object is missing.

Thanks very much for your help!

The verb "surrender" has the same basic meaning. In the first case, you simply let go of them. In the second case, you give them to another entity.
