    Present perfect

    Hello,

I'd appreciate if someone could check the accuracy of my sentence.

I love going to the beach, but it has been almost two years since I have last been there. (or since I last went there).

    Thank you.

... it has been almost two years since I was last there.
... it has been almost two years since I last went there.
... it has been almost two years since I was there.

In BrE, you can start with "... it is" rather than "... it has been".
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.

    In AmE also.

    Re: Present perfect

Thank you very much. So using the Present Perfect here is incorrect (since I have last been there)?

    I disagree.
When I read "It's five years since I saw him last" I feel it's entirely non-American. I would write "It's been" rather than "It's" 100% of the time.

I don't find anything wrong with "It's been five years since I've been there." Is that really wrong?
I'm not a teacher, but I write for a living. Please don't ask me about 2nd conditionals, but I'm a safe bet for what reads well in (American) English.

I find it perfectly natural in AmE.

It's ten years since I saw him.
It's two months since your last visit.
It's four days since I heard from you.

However, there is nothing wrong with "been" in any of those.

It's not wrong to me, but I'd leave out one of the 'been's. Depending how I started the sentence I'd either put one in the second clause or leave it out on the fly.
