Source: Mythology The Two Great Gods of Earth - Part II last paragraphShe made the fields once more rich with abundant fruit and the whole world bright with flowers and green leaves. Also she went to the princes of Eleusis who had built her temple and she chose one, Triptolemus, to be her ambassador to men, instructing them how to sow the corn. She taught him and Celeus and the others her sacred rites, "mysteries which no one may utter, for deep awe checks the tongue. Blessed is he who has seen them; his lot will be good in the world to come."
I have checked the dictionaries for the meaning of the word "lot" but it has many meanings and I don't know what it means it my text. Does it mean "land"?
Thank you so much
In this context, it means his destiny; his inheritance; his share of goods - which could indeed include land. Basically, it means that he will be well off, both spiritually and materially, in the world to come
I'm not a teacher of English, but I have spoken it for (almost) all of my life....
