    Prescribed texts

    Hello,
Once a moderator told me not to ask prescribed texts in the forum. But after I checked the meaning of "prescribed" in the dictionaries, I couldn't understand what a prescribed text is.
    Dictionaries say:

    Prescribe:
    1. to say what medicine or treatment a sick person should have.
    2. to state officially what should be done in a particular situation.

In spite of knowing the meaning I don't know what "prescribed texts" are. Would you please be kind enough to clarify it to me?

    Thank you.

A "prescribed text" is one that is required by your teacher.

'Once' is generally used for something that happened some time ago. In fact, the moderator (5jj) wrote to you only today.

The moderator did not tell you 'not to ask prescribed texts'. The moderator asked you not to submit any more questions about your set books.

I didn't know the word "once" can be used to refer to a short time just happened recently or some time a go. Thanks.

Yes I know it was you but I just didn't want to mention your name.

    Now I got it.

    .
No, it can't. It is used for something that happened a long time ago.

    You misunderstood what 5jj wrote.

If I did something yesterday, I can't say "Once, I did that."

I'm not a teacher, but I write for a living. Please don't ask me about 2nd conditionals, but I'm a safe bet for what reads well in (American) English.
