Is Hans pronounced [hʌns] like hunt, or [hɑns] like wand? the vowel is ʌ or ɑ?

I am aware that it has two pronunciations, [hænz] and [hɑns]. I am asking about [hɑns]. Because when I hear people pronouncing [hɑns], it's more like [hʌns]. So do you pronounce the vowel as [ʌ] in hunt or [ɑ] in wand?

Thanks in adavance!

There's no [ɑ] in wand
wand - definition of wand by the Free Online Dictionary, Thesaurus and Encyclopedia.

Hans is not an English name, and it's pronounced in lots of ways in English, though I've never heard [hʌns].

I meant [wɒnd], inverted ɑ. According to the phonetic symbol [hɒns], the vowel sound is [ɒn] like the word, on. But what I hear from most people is [ʌn] like the prefix un-.

How would you pronounce Hans in American English?
