    Conditionals

    Is it correct?
I want to express an idea that I'm surprised now that he did it
Eg: I wouldn't expect if he had done it

    Re: Conditionals

If he did it, and if you are surprised, you can't really make a conditional sentence of it.

I wouldn't expect him to do something like that.
I didn't expect him to do something like that.
I'm not a teacher, but I write for a living. Please don't ask me about 2nd conditionals, but I'm a safe bet for what reads well in (American) English.

Please, explain me why may not be used " if" in this situation?

Because we are dealing with reality, not hypothesis.

    Re: Conditionals

In BrE, if it was in the past, I would say "I wouldn't have expected him to do something like that".
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.

So, what do you think about this version?
