    Could you please help me to paraphrase this sentence:

    the whole affair stinks of a setup.

    The sentence is idiomatically correct. If you want to paraphrase it in more "Standard English", I would say:

    "This business appears to have been contrived for the purpose of misleading you, or establishing your guilt."
