Anyone has read this book?

If yes, what do you think about the book?

Because my teacher wants us to read the novel.

Arthur C. Clarke was one of the greats in SciFi. He may not have been the greatest stylist in English literature, but he had an amazing imagination and interesting concepts.

Give it a go!

Well, I'm a person who doesn't like to read novels. Whenever I read a novel, my head starts hurting and lastly get headache.

Is there any word that describe the sickness?

I just need the summary of the story.

Btw, have you read it?

The nearest is "bibliophobia" - fear of books. Is this the same whether the book is in English or your own language?

No - I am not going to tell you the plot! Read the book or google Arthur C. Clarke! ;-)

Hello,

I am a new member here. I have introduced myself briefly in the "New members thread" :)

jomo27 - maybe you suggest your teacher that you will watch the famous Stanley Kubricks movie instead of reading the novel? The movie is not exactly the same as the novel but you can avoid the headache ;-)

By the way: it may be interesting for you - the novel was published AFTER the movie was released

Jomo27, do you have the same headache when you read other things? You may have a neurological problem. Many intelligent people are poor students and reluctant readers because the "wiring" between their eyes and their brains is not compatible with prolonged reading.

Yeah, I just can't concentrate reading a novel which has many words and pages.

My mind starts going around whenever I read any novel.

But I don't have any problem reading magazines, comics, newspapers, articles as well as school books.

I just don't like books with many pages and words.

Just novels? Or does this also apply to non-fiction - particularly about something you find really interesting?

Well, even though I like the genre of a novel, I would still get headache when I read it.
