    Our house

Our house ..... in a large plot of land.
    1. lies
    2. rests
    3. sits
    4. stands

I go for stands. But the answer key went for rests.

Of those choices, I would also choose "stands". But I would use "on" rather than "in".

    Re: Our house

Because of the normal difference between 'on' and 'in' in their basic meanings.

Incidentally, I think its another bad question. Like Mike, I'd choose 'stands', but 'sits' is possible. I don't think the other two are impossible.

Please read responses before you rush off a random question. I said in my last post, "I don't think the other two are impossible".

Normally, we don't think of houses as "resting" on something.
