    graffiti is vs graffiti are?

    The word 'graffiti' should be followed by a singular verb or a plural verb? Which of the following sentences are correct? Thank you.

    1. Some graffiti is very artistic and some is destructive of public property.
    2. Some graffiti are very artistic and some are destructive of public property.

    3. Some graffiti is very artistic; others are destructive of public property.
    4. Some graffiti are very artistic; others are destructive of public property.

    Technically, "graffiti" is the plural of the noun "graffito". However, it is almost always used with a singular verb. My guess is that few people are even aware of the word "graffito".

    I would use #1.
