    Post To be told

    Dear teachers

I'm not entirely sure if I understand this sentence right.

She tells me you're a pilot.

Does that mean I was told, or she told me that someone's a pilot? or does it imply this event has happened more than once?

Is it the same as 'I understand you're a pilot'.

    Thank you.

    Re: To be told

You're right that it means "I understand you're a pilot" but the only reason that you know/understand that the person is a pilot is because someone female told you that was the case.
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.

She tells me you're a pilot.
The present tense is often used in conversation when the telling took place in the very recent past.
