    close to

    Hello,

do I have to use the definite article in the following context or I can also use the indefinite one:
My home is close to (a/the) shop.

    Which one is correct?
    Thanks in advance

Both could be correct. It depends on what you mean. "a" shop could be any shop. "the" shop is a specific shop. I am close to a shop which sells electronics. I am close to the shop we went to yesterday.

    Re: close to

If there is only one shop in the village, then 'the shop' is fine.
