    help!

Can someone please tell me how to explain why "Do you can speak English? "is wrong?
I can't just say that you can't use two auxiliary verbs in a sentence at the same time as we can do so in long sentences.
I know it's awfully simple but can't think of anything that sounds perfect. :(
    Thanks a lot!

    Re: help!

We do not use auxiliary DO with modals (can, could, may, might, must, shall. should, will, would).

ps, Welcome to the forum, Mihirami.

    Re: help!

It's good to know that you appreciate the help but please note that there is no need to write a new post to say "Thank you". In the bottom right-hand corner of each post is a "Like" button. Click that button and we will see that you read and appreciated the information.
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.

    Re: help!

Additionally, Mihirani, next time you post, please note that

'Thread titles should include all or part of the word/phrase being discussed.'
    (Posting Guidelines)

    'Do you can speak English?'
would have been good for this thread.
