    What does "rang" here mean? "excited"?

    The jungle rang with the exciting news.

    "Rang" comes from the verb "to ring". When you ring a bell, it makes a noise. "The jungle rang with ...." refers to the noise being made about the exciting news: the king of the jungle being crowned! I hope this helps!
