    the sun is setting

    When the sun is at noon, it is setting;
    when there is life, there is death.
    -- The Logicians, circa 350 B.C.

    What does it mean, "when the sun is at noon, it's setting"?

    Re: the sun is setting

    It means that even when the sun is at its peak in the sky, it is already on its way to disappearing for the night. This is an analogy to life and death - even when we are at our most virile, we are still on our way towards death.
