    a wedding party?

What does 'a wedding party' really mean? Does it mean the same as 'a wedding ceremony'? Does it mean the same as 'a wedding reception'? Or does it include both the ceremony and the reception? Thank you.

In AmE, "wedding party" refers to the bridesmaids and groomsmen -- people as opposed to events.
