1. The further the century progressed,
2. The further the century has progressed,
3. The more the century progressed,
4. As the century progressed,

Can we use two forms of present perfect in two sentences following together? (answer key: No.2)
My choice was No.3!

Yes, the tenses have to match in this construction.

So, only in this case we can use two similar tenses together. Right? ( As far as I know, using two present perfect together, for example, is wrong!)

What about this question:
The more information .... comes in, the more confused the picture is. (which OR that)
