    Transfer

I don't know if I am using the verb "transfer" correctly:

    "John's disappointment transferred to Jane."

Would a reader think it means 1) that the feeling of disappointment spread to Jane and she began to feel disappointment too, or 2) that John was previously disappointed at someone/something else and John's disappointment was then redirected at Jane.?
