Hello Liz, and welcome to Using English.

It is VERY important that anyone who says that they are an English teacher in their profile use correct capitalization. As you should know, the pronoun I is always capitalized, and the first letter of a sentence is capitalized.

You need a period at the end of your sentence.
Do not leave a space before your punctuation mark.

The answer to your question is that #2 is correct and #1 is not grammatical.
I'm not a teacher, but I write for a living. Please don't ask me about 2nd conditionals, but I'm a safe bet for what reads well in (American) English.
