    Amounts of interpretation

"There were 20 firemen and policemen"

Does that mean 20 people, composing of firemen and policemen, were there? Or does that mean 20 firemen and 20 policemen were there?

    Re: Amounts of interpretation

goldenace, please note that a better title would have been '20 firemen and policemen'.
