    boot (passive or active)

    Hi,

I'm in trouble with this verb, I just cannot pereive when it could use as passive and when as active verb (if it has this two function). for example in the sentence below:
Sometimes, kernel images that used to boot with the older bootloader version will fail to boot with newer versions. When upgrading from a PPCBoot version prior to 1.0.5 to Version 1.0.5 or later, for example, kernels prior to 2.4.5-pre5 may fail to boot.

I think that the first and second one would function as active verbs while the third one would be a passive one.

    I would appreciate any help.

    Re: boot (passive or active)

I haven't a clue what those sentences mean, but 'to boot' is active.

    Here are passive uses:

'I couldn't send an email as the computer hadn't been booted up.'

'He got drunk and was booted out of the pub.'

    Those three are all active.

    Re: boot (passive or active)

The passive form would be to be booted
