We normally gave until it hurt.

    1. We weren't people that gave on Sunday. We normally gave until it hurt.

    2. Never mind that for Torstveit it's 3:00 A.M. body time. (Based on Rover's idea, I am moving this part to another thread)

I think the first sentence is to exaggerate the state of being too generous. But I couldn't understand the meaning of body time in the second sentence.

    Thanks,

re: We normally gave until it hurt.

    1. means that they gave every day — not just on Sunday. Nothing implies they were over-generous.

Please ask unrelated questions in separate threads. In this case, it would help us to know the source of sentence #2.

I have changed the thread title so you can use 'Body time' again.

    Thanks,
I have a different take on the first sentence. The phrase "until it hurt" implies to me that they thought they were giving more than most, if not too much.
