    Capitalization

Not always sure when to capitalize north, south, east, west, etc. I understand that they are captalized when they refer to a specific region, but I'm always sure what a "specific region" is. For example, when referring to the eastern or western coast of India, is easter, western, and coast capitalized? Thanks for the help.
