    about inverted sentences

We can say : Two pictures are hung on the wall.

Two pictures hang on the wall.
If we turn the two sentences into inverted sentences ,why I only see : On the wall hang two pictures. But not: On the wall are hung two pictures.

Re "On the wall are hung two pictures."
This usage is often found in English. It is found, for example, in the famous poem, "The Night Before Christmas." [see below]

    • Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse.
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,
In hopes that St Nicholas soon would be there

    Re: about inverted sentences

But your answer is not a converted sentence. Could you please give me another example?

    Re: about inverted sentences

    Sorry for not answering sooner.
    Examples:
"On the wall are hung two pictures:" This "inverted sentence" exemplifies the "passive voice" in English and is proper English.
"On the wall were hung two pictures:"
"One picture is hung on the wall:"
"Two pictures are hung on the wall:"
"The stockings were hung by the chimney with care:"
All of the above "inverted sentences" are good usage.
