Wouldn't that be the same as what I posted?

that's ok, i think "can i get a couple hours off" would suffice.

"Couple of hours off" also has the advantage of being acceptable in BrE and AusE as well.

That's a very lazily written post, David. You have already shown us that you can capitalise and punctuate better than that.

It would not suffice if I were your boss. I'd expect a more polite request and a reason for asking.

'Do you think you could manage without me for a couple of hours this afternoon, please? It's my grandmother's funeral.'

Thanks a lot, Rover. This is exactly how i think it should be said. A polite and more professional way is what i was asking for. Thx!

Re: Hi, what's another way to say:

    Hello.

    Does my sentence sound OK?

May I have a couple of hours off?

David, though I'm a not a teacher nor a native speaker I want to tell you do not forget to capitalise "I" and forget to write shorterning.

We try to help learners speak in correct English.

    Thanks.
Please, correct all my mistakes. I should know English perfectly and if you show me my mistakes I will achieve my dream a little bit faster. A lot of thanks.

Not a teacher nor a native speaker.
