    let's act like...

    Which are correct:
    1-We are grown-ups. Let's act like grown-ups.

    2-We are grown-ups. Let's act like them.
    3-We are grown-ups. Let's act like it.

I would say '1' is correct, but not very nice, since a word is repeated twice. I think '3' works, and 'it' in that sentence means 'we are grown-ups'.... Let's act like we are grown-ups.

    Gratefully,
    Navi.

#3 is the best. #1 is acceptable. #2 leads one astray as to who "them" is. It is not a matter of #1 being not "nice", a more concise term is that #1 is not elegant. #1 approaches a type of legalistic writing where everything is defined so there will no question as to what is being written about.
