at 0.6 m on center through the grouting zone

Hi, could anybody please tell me what the sentence below convey?
Does it mean that the pipe was located at 0.6 m on center through the grouting zone or the ports?
    Thanks

The grout was injected with the use of sleeve port pipes (SPP) constructed of .04 m (1-1/2 in) PVC. Eight sleeve ports were located on each pipe at 0.6 m (2 ft) on center through the grouting zone, the first port being 0.9 m (3 ft) from the bottom of the pipe.

I honestly cannot visualise what is being described here. I don't know if this is my problem or the text's.
