wavelengths of light? light of wavelengths?

The physical structure of the human eye enables it to sense light of wavelengths
up to 0.0005 millimeters; infrared radiation, however, is invisible because its wavelength----0.1 millimeters-----
is too long to be registered by the eye.

Question:Why here is "light of length waves" used?
Even though the usage wouldn't hinder me to understand the meaning of setence,
I still feel very strange and even the usage is not right.
In my own opinion, here ''wavelengths of light'' should be used, and I guess that
''wave'' ought to be proper if it is used here. Are my opinions right?

    Thanks in advance!

    not a teacher

The physical structure of the human eye enables it to sense light of wavelengths up to 0.0005 millimeters.

This is the preposition "of" used to indicate the material or substance of which something is made, what constitutes it.
A house of stone. The dress of fine silk. Light of a certain wavelength.
Think of it as, "Light (made up) of wavelengths up to 0.0005 millimeters".

    Mr. JMurray:
    Thanks a lot!
At first, I even guess that is a misprint, hehe... ...
Yes, now I have understood you explanation, and wavelengths is not a part or a section of light but a characteristic,
    so it is different from the followings;
a leg of a camel, a mouth of a pig, a heart of man, a braid of a girl.
