Some people of ABC City lived in huts/a hut

I was wondering if the following sentences both correct:

How did people in ABC City live in the past?

    1. In the past, some people of ABC City lived in huts. The huts were small. The toilets were outside.
    2. In the past, some people of ABC City lived in a hut. The hut was small. The toilet was outside

"Hut' means a small shelter, is it correct to say 'The hut was small'.

    Thanks.

If there was one hut, use 2. If there were a number of huts, use 1.

    Thanks Tdol

I saw the following sentences from a book:

How did people in .... live in the past?

In the past, people of ...... lived in huts.

If we say 'people of ...... lived in huts', does it mean all people including the king lived in huts?

    There's aother sentence as follows:

Today people in ...... live in a flat.

It is assumed that a million people cannot live in a single flat. Is the above sentence correct?

Only if there is just one flat.

    Thanks bhai

    I've just edited my post.

You said "Only if there is just one flat.' Does it mean that 'Today people in ABC City live in a flat' is not grammatically correct?

Not necessarily- the majority certainly lived in huts, but the king might have had a palace or lived in a hut. The statement could be a general one or it could refer to every single person.
