    What food do you like? is common used?

    I can hear most people say " What kind of food do you like?"

    What about "What food do you like?"

    Is this common used?

    "What kind/type/sort of food" is common. You can also pluralize that: "what kinds, types, etc: Also common is "what foods do you like", but it has to be plural. The singular "what food" is a little odd.
