    Smile As if and if


    I hope someone can help. My question is... What's the different between as if and if? Are they the same? What is the meaning of "as if"?

    as is adverb:he is as old as you.
    as is adjective:i come here as a guest.
    as is conjunction: i meet him as he was stoping at red light
    as if (as is conjunction)
    Kerry positions himself as if he will run.

    if is conjunction:
    i wonder if he is at home.(i ask myselft?)
    if i feel doubt,i enquire.
    if is noun:
    the "if" is always discouraging.
