    bought into

Please make the following in red clear for me.

Its two games, Hay Day and Clash of Clans, are bringing in $2.5 million in revenue every day, and in February investors bought into the company for $130 million at a valuation of $770 million.

Is this saying "investors bought the shares of the company which are now worth $130 million at a valuation of $770 million"?

    Thank you.

    Thank you for the answer.

Do you mean "the company is actually worth $770 million, but investors paid only $130 million to buy the company"?

    Re: bought into

I can't tell from the context whether the "investors" bought all of the company or just some shares of the company. I also can't tell if the "valuation" is from the time they bought the shares or from now.

But, yes, the investors paid $130m for something that is "valued" at $770m.

I don't think so. The original says that the investors bought "into" the company. That means that they bought some of the shares of the company, not the entire company. In February, the company's valuation was $770 million. My take on this is that investors bought shares equal in value to about 17% of the company's valuation (130/770).

    Mike seems to be right:

I In April, Supercell raised $130m of venture capital funding valuing the company at $770m , but six months later it has announced another cash injection that puts even that in the shade.
