    Stephan is quite small, compared with his friends.

    Which one is correct? (ME: the first)

    1. Stephan is quite small, compared with his friends.
    2. Stephan is quite small, comparing with his friends.

    Can we use "compare to" in this sense too?

    1 is correct.

    '...compared to' would be an improvement, in my opinion.
