    such...that/as

    Dear teachers,

    I have three questions:

    No.1

He handled the word processor in such a way _____ made it impossible to use afterwards.
    a. as b. that

The key is "a". If I choose "b" then I must add a subject to the "that" clause. Is that right?

    No.2

After _____deliberation, the foreman announced that the jury had reached a verdict.
    a. ten minutes of b. ten-minute

The key is "a" while I think both are correct. Is that right?

    No.3
As for the winter, it is inconvenient to be cold, with most of ________furnace fuel is allowed saved for the dawn.
    a. what b. that c. which d. such
The answer is "a". Should I understand the sentence the following way:
As for the winter, it is inconvenient to be cold with most of the furnace fuel saved, which is allowed.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

    Thank you in advance.

    Jiang

    Re: such...that/as

1 Yes, but 'that it made' would sound more natural to me.
    2 The key is correct- for b), you'd need 'a ten-minute'
3 It's inconvenient because most of the fuel is saved for dawn. 'What fuel is allowed' suggests that there is only a very small amount allowed.
