I live in the province of Quebec, where you keep your maiden name when you get married. I often find myself in the situation of having to address an invitation or letter to a couple with different last names. Is there a protocol that should be followed when addressing letters in cases like this? eg:
Mr. John Smith
Mrs. Elizabeth Jones
Dear Mr. Smith and Mrs. Jones?
The traditional rule would have been to address the letter to Mr. and Mrs. J. Smith but this no longer applies.
Dear Ms Jones and Mr Smith
