Hi,

"In acient times, there was zero to minmal restriction on elites so they could make an outrageous amount of fortune. And lots of people's lives were oppressed."

Does this sentence sound alright?

Thank you for your suggestion!

How about this:

"In ancient times, there was almost no limit to the amount of wealth the elite could amass. The peasantry were crushed beneath the heels of the noble."

Your sentence is definitely a much more advanced version of mine. I am not as good as you are. But does my sentence still at least sound Ok or natural to you?

The intended meaning is fairly clear, but it is not natural English.

SV's sentence is much more natural.
