    creature comfort...

    hi,
    what does 'creature comfort' mean? I came across this in different contexes.
    Some are about vets or pet centers. Some are totally different.
    What is the origin of this term?

    Creature comforts are things like food, hot water and warmth that make life comfortable.

    OK. comfort is easy to understand, but I can't figure out 'creature'.

    They're basic animal needs, which distinguishes them from, say, the internet.
