    Question Responding to a compliment.

I feel like an imbecile, but I have to ask...

Is this the correct way to respond to an online photo-compliment: You're very beautiful yourself, thank you.

    I appreciate all that answer.

    Re: Responding to a compliment.

If you genuinely think that the other person is beautiful, you can say that if you want to. A perfectly acceptable response to any compliment is just "Thank you". It is not obligatory to compliment them in return.
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.

    Re: Responding to a compliment.

How you respond to a compliment has more to do with culture than anything else.

Responses could range from a simple "Thank you so much" to "Oh please... not at all!" to "You're very kind to say so" to "Somehow he managed to make even me look good" to 100 other things. But don't say "You're beautiful too" unless 1) you can see their picture at the same time and 2) you mean it.

EDIT: Oops. I failed to click to post my comment and now I'm 20 minutes later than emsr2d2!
I'm not a teacher, but I write for a living. Please don't ask me about 2nd conditionals, but I'm a safe bet for what reads well in (American) English.

    Re: Responding to a compliment.

Thanks, Barb_D and emsr2d2. The problem has been solved! So much for my college education, I can't even figure out how to speak appropriately online haha.
