    'that' related grammar

    I think she has observed that I was going to tell her something.

    Above sentence is correct, right?

    Is usage of 'that' is necessary in the sentence? Can it be: I think she has observed I was going to tell her something.

    Please tell me the rules regarding 'that'.

    Also, I want to be sure that 'I think...' is correct and 'I think that she...' is isn't necessary.

    It's not a natural sentence "I think she realised I was going to tell her something" is a better way to say it.

    The rule about "that" is when it is used to introduce a noun clause it can usually be omitted unless it is the subject of the clause.
