    Structure of Deserve

    Dear All,
I am pleased if you could make me understand this structure:

    "You don't deserve teaching"

What does it means because I've heard that making negative sentence of deserve with the verbs that can be used in passive gives opposite meaning i.e, "The person knows everything" is it correct ?

Your replies would be highly appreciated and pardon for any mistake in question because I am English learner, not native speaker.

    Thanks

No. That sentence means "You don't deserve to be taught" not "The person knows everything".

    Re: Structure of Deserve

Another way of putting it (which shows where the 'teaching' comes from, but isn't as good as Mike's paraphrase) 'You don't deserve the effort I spend in teaching you'.
