    I like river.

    Hello.

    One of my students wrote:

    I like river.

    The sentence written by the student, who is a beginner, is obviously wrong.
    She is talking about rivers in general.

    Would it be better to write "I like rivers." as in "I like dogs/cats/oranges."?

    What about the words 'sea' and 'sky'?

    "I like the sea." and "I like the sky." sound correct to me.
    Do "I like seas." and "I like skies." work? I feel the former is fine.

    I would go with "the sky" and "the sea".
