    Bathroom in the USA

    Hello everybody,
In the US not UK, suppose that a person asks you "Excuse me, where's the bathroom?"
    And you say "That's there"

    This is my question:
How will you know if he/she wants to defecate or take a shower?

    Thank you

It's not your business to know what they want to do.

Maybe I want to wait him. I want to know that if he means he wants to take a shower I should go and come back
in 15 minutes and if he wants to defecate I should stay in there and wait for him for 2 or 3 minutes.
Now, you see why I asked this question?

I think Sarah means a bathroom can be consisted of two rooms and one room has a toilte while other has a shower.
Please, correct all my mistakes. I should know English perfectly and if you show me my mistakes I will achieve my dream a little bit faster. A lot of thanks.

It would be very unusual for a guest to use your bathroom to take a shower. If that ever occurred, the guest would make that clear in advance.

That would be very uncommon in the US. We usually have full bathrooms (toilet, sink/basin, and bathtub/shower) and half bathrooms (toilet and sink/basin).

    Re: Bathroom in the USA

But maybe the American I'm talking to is far from me and is not my guest. I mean maybe he's on the internet chatting to me. I'm in Iran and he is in the USA. He types "Excuse me, I need to go to the bathroom"
On that time, I want to know if he means he wants to take a shower or he wants to defecate. I want to know on that time whether I'm to wait for him or go and come back after twenty minutes. I hope you understand me now.

    Thank you

Why would someone need to take a shower in the middle of a conversation? That makes no sense.
