    sentence meaning

    so that month and year later, a rereading of the book brings intimations of the vanished moment and somehow enables a recall not available to the likes of me


    As per my understanding of above underline sentence, I have made sentence below if, am right, so there is my question. why couldn't author put comma or conjunction.

    1.somehow enables a recall but that is not available to the likes of me.

    Your restatement would be OK without "but".
