    go away

In the sentence below what does " is not going away" mean?

Since e-mail is not going away, and its ease of use almost guarantees it will expand to become the primary form of communication.

    Thanks

    Re: go away

If you go away, then you are no longer here.

So if email is not going away, then it is going to remain here. The idea is that email will not become obsolete or fade from use anytime soon.

To "go away" is to leave or no longer be present. When you add "not", the meaning changes. You will remain, you will "not" (a negative, no) leave. E-mail will remain or stay.
